Q: honda prelude?
I am currently looking at getting a 5th generation Honda Prelude. I need a car that will last me a while seeing as I will not have the funds to be able to get a new car anytime soon. I also want a car that is quick, light, and stylish. I love how the Prelude looks and I was wondering do you think this car fulfills my needs and wants?

A: Prelude is a great and reliable car. It took us from WI to NH, MA and NY without any problems.

Q: What is the mechanical buzzing sound on my Honda Prelude?
Everytime I start my 2001 Honda Prelude, and drive about 10 feet, I feel something vibrate and buzz somewhere underneith towards the engine. I can feel it slightly come up the steering wheel. It is very mechanical and I dont think it is a bad thing nor do I think anything is wrong; I just want to know what it is. Any ideas?

A: i own a 98 prelude, same generation as yours, its the ABS performing a self test every time you start the car. So yeah you don't have to worry about that buzzing! It's perfectly normal and not an issue.

Q: How many miles can you expect a Honda Prelude to last for?
Would buying a one owner, all stock 2000 Honda Prelude with 110,000 miles be a bad move. It's a five speed and has been taken care of. I can get it for $5000.

A: check yahoo autos, cars.com etc to confirm the price for a retail, trade-in and private party sale before you part with 5K also spend $75 for a mechanic to check it out how long will it last, with care...........the engine 250 K the a/c, clutch, starter, electric gadgets.....they'll be having issues soon I know the Korean Cars Aren't Cool, but they are getting better and better looking, perhaps a new one of those which has a100000 mile warranty is worth considering....... some are going for $10K good luck

Q: Where is the flasher relay located in a 1993 Honda Prelude?
I have a 93 Honda Prelude SI, 2.3L, and I'm looking to install this 3-pronged flasher relay, but I cannot find anything that looks like it under the steering wheel. Anyone know where it's supposed to go? Thanks for any help!

A: it is in the fuse box under the dashboard.

Q: What kind of rims of a 2000 Honda Prelude?
I just recently bought a used 2000 Honda Prelude. It's the non-SH version, its automatic, its white (black interior) and it has about 104k on the odometer. I got a good deal on it but I have to replace the rims and tires because they were damaged and MUST be changed. I was wondering what are some good suggestions for rims and tires for this car. Specifically I would like to know where to get rims also what color I should get that would contrast the white exterior color the best. Also I would just like some general knowledge such as what size rims would fit my 2000 Honda Prelude. Thank you for anyone that can answer my question. It will help immensely. THANK YOU!

A: i think the best choice for your prelude can be 17" with five spokes chrome rims because it can give you the best handling and a nice look for the colors of the car and about the tires if you don't want to spend too much you could go for Yokohama or Hankook, maybe Kumho but if you want more performance go for Toyo, Nitto or Falken. About the brand of the rims i recommend Volk, Racing hart, Klass, Enkei, Ace, Sevas, HRE...

Q: How do you know if your Honda Prelude is type SH?
I just recently got a Honda Prelude and I'm not sure if it is a base model or type SH. What are the 'obvious' physical reasons? I know that both have the DOHC Vtech stickers as well as the Type SH sticker on the rear but it looks like the previous owner took those stickers off on this vehicle. I also know that the Type SH has a stock wing but this Prelude has been modified.

A: 8th # in vin is a 5 for SH, 4 for base Engine serial # is H22A4-X000001 for base, H22A4-X500001 for SH SH transmission is M2U4 (only manual) Base transmission is M2Y4 (manual) M6HA (automatic) Things SH has that are different: ATTS (active torque transfer system), atts light in dash ATTS has a cooler line from radiator overall steering ratio SH: 15.61, base: 15.75 various additional sensors Steering wheel has a 3rd notch (not visibal unless removed) No 3rd brake light in the rear deck Spoiler w/3rd brake light 5 Spoke rims Round ring on shift boot Round style shift knob Courtesy lights on door panel Different shocks/springs Oil filter is higher up on engine block Body colored side and rear lips Type SH decal on the rear trunk ATTS light in your cluster (only on when atts is not working or you 1st start the car) This is all from Preludepower.com, I'm sure that is where the person above got their information from as well. Q: What kind of gas to put in 2000 Honda Prelude?
Gas is really expensive now a days. Almost all kinds of gas are at least $3 or around that range. I was just wondering what kind of gas to put in my 2000 Honda Prelude. Its an automatic and it has about 104,000 miles on the car. I know on the gauges, it says to use unleaded premium fuel, but gas is just so expensive. So if I used plus instead, would I damage the engine? Will everything be fine or can i potentially cause problems that would be very expensive to fix? I would just really like to know! Thanks for anyone who takes the time to answer!

A: If your gas cap cover (the body cover) lifts and says "unleaded fuel" then you can use whatever you want (regular or super). But cars designed for Super gas will have some indication INSIDE of the gas cap cover to use super / premium / or 91 octane gas. This is pretty much true of any car so to remind new car owners (borrowers) what to use. === One poster noted that putting the wrong gas will damage your engine. NOT TRUE. You car (any car since 1996) has been fitted with knock sensors. In simple terms your car will adjust itself if you use cheaper gas. But that's not a bad thing, if you never really drive your car hard. For the most part, engine only knocks when you accelerate hard anyway (or any kind of heavy loading - like climbing up hill). Try this experiment: Running your tank really low. Then get about $5 of regular gas. See if you can detect any changes in power. If you don't like it you can run the gas out on HWY in about 30 to 40 miles. Or you can just fill the gas tank full of super (and dilute the regular gas). === Just so you know - what is engine knock? Engine knock sound like that noise when you shake a paint spray can. It only happens when you accelerate (or climb up hill). Good Luck === Don't forget to vote for the BEST ANSWER - please - whoever it may be. FACT: You also get +3 points when you vote for BEST ANSWER

Q: can a honda prelude be converted to rear wheel drive?
I own a 98 honda prelude, and it is a very fun car, I just wish drifting could be a lil easier.

A: No it is not something that you would want to try.

Q: How much would you pay for a 1997 Honda Prelude?
I bought a 1997 Honda Prelude last year. It's red and in great condition. 1997 was the first year of their latest body style which stopped being produced in 2001. I have a feeling that I'll be able to get more out of it then what I paid for it since they are so rare and seem to be very popular. It just went over 100,000 miles. I'm not telling how much I paid for it. So how much would you pay for this car? Intelligent answers please... I'm glad I don't plan on selling it for a while because I actually paid $8,000 for it and see them being sold for even more. You people are cheap! Just kidding, it's good to be stubborn when buying a car. Keep up the good work.

A: I am a honda fan myself and the reason I like them so much is because the price drops after 100,000 miles but the cars are good for much more. It may be worth 7500 tops (auto trader has them from 500-12,000 depending on aftermarket work etc.), but it should be worth it to you, to keep it. Put some wheels on it and it could feel like a new car to you. I think that you should sell a car before 100,000 miles and buy cars that have a few years in them before they get to that point. Or buy one with over 100,000 for cheap and use it as a commuter car, just don't put too much $ in to it. As far as it being rare, you may want to hang on to it for 15 more years to get any real money out of it. Cars are the worst investment you can make, as long as you look at it as a cost you must incur to get from place to place and NOT AN INVESTMENT. You should be very pleased with the prelude.

Q: How many miles has been driven before rebuilding a Honda Prelude engine?
What is an average Honda Prelude engine's life before requiring a rebuild?

A: id agree ive seen them last 300-400 thousand miles and more depends how they were kept up and if the oil changes timing belts and fluids were changed regularly could get over 500k

Q: How Do I Convert A Honda Prelude into a Ferrari, Lamobohgini, etc?
My father just got me a Honda Prelude, I don't know the year on it, cause he doesn't even know, so if anybody out there can help me convert this honda into something different or exotic would be great!

A: I would just recommend doing a conversion on the lights like a lambo or ferrari and a widebodykit

Q: Where is the Main relay on a Honda Prelude Located?
I am trying to figure out where the main relay to my 88 honda prelude si 4ws is located, because it may be the problem to my car not working.

A: which relay you have 10 or 15 of them. if you mean the solenoid then it's on the starter itself

Q: How much would a 91 honda Prelude's Bumper shocks cost?
Recently I bumped a 91 honda prelude with my car. I didn't hit the car hard at all (So lightly that a shopping cart could do less damage). The man who owned the car sent me a bill asking for 550 dollars to replace the prelud'es bumper shocks. I'm skeptical about this. How expensive are these parts and how easy are they to break? "Recently I bumped a 91 honda prelude with my car. I didn't hit the car hard at all (So lightly that a shopping cart could do less damage). A: Did he send you a valid quote from the insurance company or one hey just made? It takes more than just a little bump to collapse them. The price ranges from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Q: How do you "pop the hood" on a 2000 Honda Prelude?
I know this sounds extremely dumb but I'm relatively young and I do not know much about cars. I do know how to pop a hood ironically. However, I do not know how to pop the hood on the 2000 Honda Prelude that I have recently purchased. All my attempts have been futile and painful. I just don't see how to get it open. Any suggestions? Thanks for those who answer.

A: look under the dash on left side.. close to the brake pedal stay left side of the brake pedal.. ill see it says hood and pop it and just pull it a bit and feel the the relase for the hood to go up.. its reall easy.. just feel um with your hands after u pull the latch in the inside.. if your hood latch is broken.. have a friend pull it up so u can open the hood.. goodluck.. i have faith in you.. ull open it in no time
