Q: How i improve the mpg on 2001 lexus gs 430.?
i have 2001 lexus gs 430 with 40k miles on it and gas price is way high. what should i do?
how i improve mpg using newer better muffler or engine tune-up?
A: Not much. 1. Keep the tires inflated properly; that makes a big diff. 2. Don't carry anything you don't need...keep it light. 3. Use the lowest octane fuel that will work without the engine making noise(knocking or pinging). 4. Never use a roof rack! (Skis or bike, luggage etc) 5. Do your maintenance on time/keep the thing tuned. 6. Don't jackrabbit start. (making the tires go real fast from a stop) Get quickly to the speed you want and stay there. Changing speed uses more fuel. 7. Slow down. After about 55 MPH most vehicles start using relatively much more fuel. 8. Use the air conditioner and keep the windows closed. Newer car air conditioners are very efficient but old cars weren't so some old timers will tell you to not use the air but that's only for older models. 9. Don't leave the engine running when you're not moving. 10. Don't warm-up the engine in the morning to clear the ice. Use a scraper, drive slowly until the engine warms.(but make sure you can see)

I want some who has one to tell if they really like it and why . if they dont why? i want to know of known problems that can occur, looking at a 2001 lexus gs 430? and can anyone tell me the difference between that one and the gs 300 besides the engine.? any other information would be great i dont know to much about the car itself..thanks for the help
A: I would look for a different car.. I have one... mines a GS 350.. but I am not impressed with it..

i can't wait to get rid of it.
Q: Jack Issues with Lexus 06 GS 430. 1) Has anyone used the scissor jack that comes with the car or another?
Toyota? Here are my observations: I do not like that thing at all. The scissor jack on my GS 430 with the U grove does not even come in contact with the pinch weld. It meets the side molding/running board (Rocker Panels) and on the other side it hits the soft bonding material. I can see that damaging both sides until the jack makes contact with the pinch weld. Anyone see smashing or denting using this jack? Especially on the front which it will hit the running board/molding Rocker Panels?
2)Using a floor jack: one with a small cup.
Has anyone seen a pinch weld fail or fold over? Lexus’ pinch weld sure look flimsy compared to other cars I have owned. Anyone use lift blocks or hockey pucks between the jack and the pinch weld? I stopped by Discount Tire and asked them how they would lift the car ; they would use the pinch weld and block pads. That would put the entire load on the pinch weld. were do you get those pads? Is it safe to use the floor jack directly on the PW? Tha
A: If careful, you can lift the car buy the pinch weld. Check your owners manual for proper lift points.
Q: can anyone help me find these lexus gs 430 rims there 17 inch 7 spoke chrome?
i need just one but if i have to buy a full set then watever PLEASE HELP!!! thanks

A: Apparently you either broke or damaged the rim really bad or borrowed the car and you need to fix it for the owner. If the car is yours, it could be cheaper to get a set of rims that might look better than the factory ones or some closer on looks.
Q: Which is better?-'06 Lexus GS 430 or '06 BMW M5?
Which do you think is better?
A: the BMW M5 is a far superior car and will destroy nearly any other car on the road . it also has far better safety standards than nearly any other car. and as for sheer luxury it cant be beat
Q: when will Lexus be changing the body style on the GS 430 model or changing the 430 to something else?
I'm looking to buy a Lexus GS430 but want to know when they will change body styles or model number.
A: The 2008 GS 460 has a slightly redesigned front grille and
turn signal integrated side view mirrors. The GS is equipped with a 4.6 L V8 with 368 hp. The gs430 had 290 before, a large step up.

Q: Any recommended company that does APPRAISALS for Salvaged cars ( LA)?
My husband is selling a LEXUS GS-430/ Year 2000 *salvaged car, (LA) we need to do an appraisal for it to get the estimate of its value and sell it.
Anybody recommend a company that does that here in Los Angeles County? Or where else can we find the estimate of its value being a salvaged car. Does anybody know approx. how much does it cost to get a cars appraisal?
A: I too, own a slavaged truck, a 2002 Pathfinder. I bought it at an auction for next to nothing, it came from Allstate and the adjuster told me to look up the NADA(blue book) value and subtract 4,000 off that price.
IMO, I would just put it up for sale at what you guys feel is a fair price based on mileage, and body condition. Let the next person deal with all the appraisals and TTL.

Q: what car should i get?????
1st gen. lexus is 300
2nd gen lexus gs 300/430
1st gen lexus sc 300/400
A: 2nd generation GSs have the least problems by far. If at all
possible get a post 00 model. These vehicles have better technology than the 98-00, ie Electronic throttle system, distributorless ignition, so on and so forth. These ones are practically bulletproof.
Q: is bmw a good car to own?
i'm trying to get a 2007 3 series coupe or a 2004-2007 5 series i feel nervous about getting one, i know the lexus is 250 and gs 430 are good but which is good?
A: BMW is the best car you will ever drive. They strive in being the best car in the world thus their moto, "The Ultimate Drive Machine."
Once you drive a BMW - any model or year - it's hard to drive anything else. BMW's handle amazing, look amazing and are super fun to drive. They're actually addictive. The Lexus is a pretty car - but it doesn't compare to the BMW.
I will never own any other car again after having my BMW for so many years. I love it and it gets better every time I drive it :) Ask any Bimmer owner - we love them!
Q: Is Toyota Still Number One for Quality?
Lexus, Toyota and Honda models dominate the segment rankings. Lexus models lead in four segments: GS
300/GS 430 (midsize premium car), LS 430 (large premium car), SC 430 (premium sporty car) and GX 470
(midsize premium MAV). Four Toyota models also lead in their respective segments: Echo (sub-compact car),
RAV4 (compact MAV), Highlander (midsize MAV) and Tundra (large pickup).
Honda models rank highest in
three segments: Civic (compact car), S2000 (compact premium sporty car) and Odyssey (van). Models by Acura,
Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, Mazda, Mercury and GMC each rank highest in one segment.
A: Toyota and Honda are the best-made cars in the world, in terms of miles driven divided by maintenance & repair cost per mile. However, in my opinion Toyota is slightly better.
No car is any better than the maintenance it has had. If a goofball buys a brand new Toyota and does not follow the oil change schedule, then no matter who owns it next it will never be as good as it could be.
I have a 1997 Camry with 277,000 miles on it. My son has a 1993 Corolla with almost 400,000 miles on it. Both of these cars have had the oil changed right on schedule without fail. Neither has ever had major maintenance problems. I replaced the starting system on the Camry once --- that is the extent of major problems. The Corolla, in almost 400,000 miles, has never had anything more than oil changes, tune ups, and tires, plus once the a/c was repaired. You cannot get this kind of service on your average car.
Oh yeah, in addition to oil changes, we also do something we were showed by a certified Toyota mechanic. On cold mornings we start off right away and don't let the engine idle, but we never let the RPM's go over 2000-2250 until the engine temp gauge begins to flicker a bit. I have been told this greatly increases the life of the engine.
When I say Toyota is #1 for quality, I base this statement on actual experience with their cars.
